The title of the post may sound confusing and overly long but let me explain..(Yes, I did that on purpose :-) )

I believe that as a human being we can achieve most of the things that we what and sometimes, we can achieve even the most extreme or the impossible.

I am not going to give you examples here but I am sure you’ve either read, heard or watched some of the great success stories people are achieving on a daily basis.

Yes, they are indeed out there.

So, how do I mean by the title of this post above…

Well, in order for you to achieve what you want, you have to KNOW exactly what you have to do in order to get what you want…like your goals and dreams…

Put simply, you just have to get a bullet proof plan providing you with the step by step process and following through till you have finally achieved it.

And if you do not know what to do, confused and clueless then you need to find someone who does. Or else, you have a BIG problem.

This is really critical because if you don’t know what to do, do you think you can achieve whatever it is that you want?

There is a lot of confusion with the majority of the public today about wealth. When people think of wealth building or the accumulation of wealth, they think of making more money and spending less money.

Yes there is some truth in that. It’s certainly difficult to deny that.

But most importantly, we cannot hide from the fact that the majority of people who craves for wealth tend to fail in achieving their true wealth. A great many of them have invested intense amount of determination, time and effort to achieve that goal and yet time and time again, failure seems to dominate their fate.

This is definitely not a statistic that most people can be proud or brag about. But if one wants to achieve it badly enough then what are the exact steps he or she should do to really change their financially dire situations and how can they start to really pumping some real cold hard cash flowing into their bank accounts?

Perhaps the one question that requires an immediate answer is this: How can people achieve wealth quickly and secure the highest return with the least amount of risk?

In truth, the failures that usually affect wealth seekers boil down to their common misunderstanding and the existing relationship they have with ‘wealth’. In fact, studies have shown that many people are not wealthy, not because of their lack of ability, but mainly due to their mindset.

Building wealth does require smart investing, long-term planning, and patience.

Is Crisis Management Necessary? »

You’ve probably realised by now that I have not updated my Ambar Hamid blog since late November 2007.

No, I have not forgotten about you…….. although I admit time constraints did play a minor role in this :)

Now let me explain…

During the first week of December, my hosting company suffered a major security breach on their internal computer systems. Rumours had it that the hackers gained complete access to their customers’ personal account details including credit card numbers, names, address etc.

You can imagine the sheer damage the company would have to face if illegal transactions were made on each of the customers cards or worst still: identity frauds.

They immediately imposed a strict emergency rule and that was to immediately stop customers’ access from login into their hosting accounts.

Now I understand why they did this but I didn’t agree on many points.

1) People were left stranded from accessing their sites for many days and weeks. Now, imagine if you run an ecommerce site churning away more than £500,000 a month and suddenly your business could not operate because you were not allowed access.

Imagine also if you had a key to your house and suddenly someone from somewhere refused your entry. I know this sounds ridiculous but it’s a good metaphor to describe the situation.

2) New access codes would only be sent via post. Bear in mind that when this happened, we had Royal Mail strikes that would result in further delay in post deliveries.

3) People had to wait hours on end to speak to their customer services. I did make a call and I was number 57 on the call list. Thirty minutes later, I was on number 56 and I hung up.

4) Emails sent were not replied nor entertained.

Customers were getting nervous. The internet forums were inundated with new discussion threads. In fact, if you did a search on Fasthosts on either Google or Yahoo, you’d still be able to access numerous news articles.

I received my access codes just before Christmas and I quickly switched all my sites to a new hosting company. Honestly, it wasn’t that hard of a decision to make…

So, what can we learn from this story?

Look, running a business is not always smooth sailing. There are its ups and downs. You will never know what’s coming next. It’s filled with uncertainties.

The question that you need to ask yourself is….Am I ready?

Let’s think about this for a minute…

If a major crisis occurs to your business then will you be prepared for it?

Will you have any contingency plans to bring your business back to normality without affecting your customers?

Are you ready physically and psychologically?

What about financially?

It’s difficult isn’t it?

You see, a business is a system. Just like anything in life.

Imagine if you were about to come down with a fever. Your body defence system would give you all sorts of signals warning you ahead of time so you can take precautionary measures.

Similarly in business, a system will act as a ‘silent alarm to alert you on any shortcomings.

It’s clear that the damage has been done to Fasthosts. They’ve now lost their credibility and the majority of their customers’ trust. They could have easily avoided the mishap if only if they had managed it properly in the first place.

Look, even the world’s billionaire – Warren Buffet agrees,

“It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.”

In short, Im all for good crisis management :)

If you have read my previous blog entries, you probably know that I have shared various methods on how to build successful businesses.

All of these criteria play key roles in driving my business to grow and staying profitable.

Look, a business should not consume all the time in your life. If your business NEEDS you to stay profitable then in my opinion, you don’t really have a business.

I know this may sound harsh but if you seriously want your business to grow, you need to concentrate on your BUSINESS.

Now, how do I mean by that?

Well, you need to create a fool proof SYSTEM where your business will always grow without you.

You must create a SYSTEM that allows you to enjoy yourself with family and friends and not be tied up with the daily routines of business.

Have a look around you…
McDonalds, Google, Microsoft, Nokia, Ikea, Walmart, Tesco and many other big conglomerates share the same business philosophy…

What is it?

Again, it’s called a SYSTEM.

Model this. Implement it.

OK Ambar, how can I create a system?

Simple – follow your passion and concentrate on it. You don’t have to be the best at everything. Leave other tasks to other people and outsource it whenever possible.

Get a success blueprint for your business and teach others to master it. Implement it in every facets of your business.

Delegate and trust people more.

You’ll soon realise that you can always be in control of your business with or without you.

Now, that is LIFE!

My friends on average reads around 10-15 books a month. In fact one of them reads around 50 books
in a month! This individual is also one of the Amazon’s best selling business authors!

TWO: Speed To Action.

WHY: Take immediate action from everything that you’ve learned. Do not delay. The more you procrastinate,
the less likely that you will see it from happening.

Remember, speed is the keyword here and speed is the one skill you need to hone.

Successful people are aware of these principles and if the above is important to you, then take action now.

Go get a book relevant to what you want to improve on.

Read it. Devour the content.

Make some notes and take massive practical action immediately. Don’t wait till tomorrow. It has to be instant!

Witness great improvement in your lives. Get a list of books. Buy it or get it at your local library.

Try it for a month. No excuses.

Marketing Is Way Too Important For You To Ignore… »

I've seen many companies that were established 3-6 months ago are now nowhere to be seen. In fact, you may
have experienced it yourself that for the majority of the time, companies do come and go. Most dissapear in less than a year.

It is a dissapointing trend but unfortunately it is REAL.

Incidents like these usually happen when you have highly motivated business owners who have taken the giant leap forward to starting their own business but did not arm themselves with the right tools for success.

They had realised that the holy grail in becoming financially free and achieve the greatest life fulfillment is through owning a company.

That is definitely true.

However, what most people fail to understand is that knowledge and experience are the key to the growth of companies. You've probably seen that the majority of successful companies recruit talents from their closest competitors. Some of them in fact would pay an arm and a leg on recruitment fees for the ideal employee.

The idea again is simple:

Knowledge and Experience.

Now, don't stop there.

You may think that having knowledge and experience is enough but unfortunately it is still insufficient to running a sustainable and growing company.

So, what is it you reckon?

It is non other than MARKETING.

Marketing gives you the key to profits, cash flow, branding, sales, growth and many more. Without it, you will not survive.

So remember, invest in yourself on new marketing techniques and ideas that work. Try it and use it. If it fails then don't give up.

Keep on testing your marketing strategies. No marketing is the same with every other company.

It works just like the heart in your body but this time it is pumping profits to all sections of your business.

It Was My 30th Birthday Yesterday…. »

Sunday, 7th October 2007 was indeed a memorable day. I was with a group of people that really mean
a lot to me in my life - people that influences me and people that I respect.

They have shared some of the very best moments of my life and I'm truly glad that they are there
to support me and to be there in times of need.

Now, you might have guessed from the cheeky header above  that it was indeed my 30th birthday
on the 7/10. We celebrated the day at a gorgeous restaurant in London. The food was simply amazing - thanks
to the most talented executive chef.

Now, you are probably wondering as to where it was held. Well not to worry - the details and pictures will soon follow…

I must also thank you to all readers of this blog for your continuous support. In return, do ask me your burning
questions on business, marketing etc and I will answer it directly via this blog for others to share..
